This Italian sourced Brooklyn fig and the Italian Maryland fig interest me as both trees were surviving outside on their own. Both at one time were huge trees. So a chance this one might make it here outside. Even if not, itâs nice to keep the line going. If I can root cuttings that is!
Drew fig cuttings are usually very easy to root. I get about 90% or better take, have started dozens. I use the wet paper towel method in plastic bag. I also cheat and use dip-and-grow, not required but really helps me.
I also have just suck prunings into the ground and had them grow. Takes longer but interesting to discover baby fig trees in the tomato patch.
Hey i wanted to add that I have been researching figs on EBay, and discovered that the place of full of scammers. Many of the high prices on rare figs have as much to do with the seller. As the sellers are known reliable sellers.

I bought two for under 10 dollars from the above. I thought it was a fair price. I have more than I can handle now! The scammers are selling rare figs that are probably just common figs. Not really what they say they are. Any i listed here or in the link can be trusted.
I bought Desert King from mgwillis, he included 4 cuttings of Desert King, as a bonus he included 1 cutting of RDB and another of OâRourke! for $5.11 plus postage. Wow! Now this is a good guy!
Some of his cuttings go for 80 bucks! He is the real deal, yet when I won an auction for $5.11 he still treated me right.
I wanted to thank Steve too for the cuttings earlier in the year. A couple I lost due to inexperience in rooting cuttings, but most survived despite my inexperience. Some should bear fruit next year. I have been looking for recipes! Iâm certainly going to make my own fig newtons! And i was thinking a jam with raspberries sounds good! I think users here posted fig jam recipes with spices and such. I canât wait to make some!

By my temp conversion chart that would be zone 7 conditions. Denmark and Sweden just seem cold but all that water keeps them mild.
if it is Hardiness Zone 7, looking at the map of European climatic zones, I see that Germany is climatic zone 6.

cuello de dama negra extremeña, It is a variety that was brought from Spain to California by monks to an old mission in California (san diego I recall), later was discovered the variety by a collector and according to the color of the fig and the area where it was discovered, was called black mission

Yes, the Bornholm/Nexoe fig isnât overly hardy but it ripens well in cool weather and has a large breba crop. Main crop generally wonât ripen in Scandinavia. It is a very tasty variety.
Yes those are very famous figs, I have heard they all taste similar, and really the one to get is
Coll de Dama Blanca-Negra. It is a very strange cultivar in that is produces light and dark figs on the same tree. It is the best one to get in short season places as it ripens 15 days before the other CDD figs.So I obtained this one and really have no interest in the others, as they all taste alike. Very cool it produces 2 different colored figs.

Is anyone having luck with VdB planted in the ground in the deep south 7a/8b? I just ordered one thinking it was cold hardy but should have read this thread more closely first. Iâm hoping I can plant it in the ground permanently.
