Gardeners struggle

The gardeners struggle of the week. Wanting it to rain, because we just had a heat wave and things are dry, but not wanting to rain because then you won’t be able to plant anything, because the ground will be too wet.

Can you plant before it rains?

We had the rain - good choice

I like to plant on cooler days or when it’s raining not too hard actually.

Nope. At a music festival all day.

Always a big concern here in Florida. Seems we get to much or not enough. So I broke down and spent the money on drip irrigation…

You might throw a plastic tarp over the area you want to plant, if it’still realistic.

It actually ended up is the worst of both worlds, which seems to be common in this area. Meaning it rained just enough to make outdoor plans miserable, but not enough to actually do any good. In other words, my rain gauge is still empty, despite on and off sprinkles all evening.

Not sure but this might be ‘fake news’ - well in my case it is. I often have made a hole in mud and stuck a transplant in (e.g. one I started inside) with no apparent ill effects. That’s about all I will disturb the soil.
And tarping is described elsewhere.
