Interesting you should mention that. I have had great success grafting Pakistani onto one of the volunteer mulberries at my Mom’s house. However, I am trying again on the other 6 volunteers there this year. Not one took alba or Pakistani on any of the others.
Side note. I took three cuttings from that specific volunteer root. I rooted them and then grafted two pakistani and one everbearing. 100% take so far. All that to say i agree there seems to be either a compatibility issue … or a very finicky temperature issue. I’ve been informed that temps can cause 100% cherry graft failure too.
