Juliet cherries

anyone grow juliet cherries? do you think my native chokecherries will help pollinate them? I’ve read they are mostly self fertile but produce more if 2nd pollinator present. I’ve tried growing nanking in the past but the voles girdled them. will take precautions this time.

I think your choke cherries will bloom to late if they would even pollinate them. Do you have room for another bush? Carmine Jewel is a proven winner to compliment your Juliet. The only bush cherry in the romance series yet to prove worthy is Crimsons passion. They don’t seem to set fruit well. I haven’t herd of anyone having pollination problems with these bush cherries, but most of use grow more than one bush too. You could always try grafting onto your Juliet too.

i don’t really have room for another but juliet is self pollinating anyway. if it produces well i may make room for a carmine jewel

It will, these are excellent bushes. You will have to wait for about four years and then it only gets better!
