Discourse doesn’t have that feature. They probably have some reason why since its simple to do (its already in the admin panel I can see).
The user list on this site is accessible from every page. Click on the 3 horizontal bars [ 
] at the top right of any page. A drop-down menu appears and one of the choices is “Users”.
I’m not sure why alphabetical order would be helpful. If you want information about a user in a post you are reading, just click on their name or icon. If you want to find someone in the list of users, then use ctrl-F.

Everyone should make sure to provide their physical location (Country, State, City) and USDA zone in their mini profile, it makes like so much easier.

I agree.
Second the motion for people to put in their general geographic location. Sometimes zone alone is not that helpful. Never Mind when there is neither zone nor location.
