Do you know what the lowest temp you saw was? Maybe too early to really tell but it looks like everything is unscathed here. Mango blooms look good still, banana and papaya look fine. I put a handful of young sensitive tropical things that are still in pots in the shed that houses our water heater just to be safe. It stays about 5 degrees warmer than outside in there.
It’s really interesting looking at the weather stations around here on a night like this. Where I am we mostly stayed right at or just above 32 but if you look just a coupe miles outside of town to the south and west they all hit the 20s.
29 was our low. It was still 31 at 9. My colder greenhouse got to 33, its usually 3-4 degrees warmer, so it was probably 29 (I don’t have a gauge outside). Driving into Brandon there was alot of frost. Strawberry fields were on countinous water all night I guess too, they were still on.
It was still below freezing when I left, but nothing had any damage so far. Most of my potted tropicals are in the greenhouse unless I have more than 2. Extras are outside on the east side of the greenhouse. Saw no damage outside, but it was too cold to open up the greenhouse still.
I was watching my weather station this morning right as the sun was about to come up. It dropped to 31.8 for about 10 minutes then went back above 32 and started to climb as the sun rose.
