I say Amen…although in truth I had a good year, and only masked-up when required. I’ll hope 2021 is better. But, meanwhile, suggest folks plant a garden and grow some fruit, just in case the stores are closed for some reason!
Self employed meant I carried on as usual at work, and spent a good deal of time keeping up with news via internet…I don’t watch tv. Wrote several articles for local newspaper. And began some notetaking for a potential historical fiction type book.
I don’t like the word fiction, but it enables avoiding a bunch of footnotes proving every line.
The only problem with kissing 2020 goodbye (and that story will be in the paper next week) is that 2021 may be replete with not nice surprises also.

2020 has been one of my beter years. My garden and citrus trees did well. I have done far more hiking and exploring. I didn’t have to spend any time with hostile relatives or sleep in uncofotable hotel rooms. I learned how to use zoom and caught up with all of the monster movies starting in the 1920. Lots of prehistoric sci fi movie gave me an appreciation for the quality of filming with so little knowledge or technology.

So true. LOTS of catching up on old movies. I even bought a few DVD’s I had been wanting to see. I bough a DVD set with “50 Horror Classics”. True, what they did with what technology was available was quite good most of the time. If not it ends up on “Mystery Science Theater” and I still watch them anyway.

We spent a lot of time watching and debating the secret of oak island, the nova scotia treasure hunt with Rick and Marty Lagina. I went to the Lexington Va courthouse and the Washington and Lee library to research my old house and neighborhood. We saw civil war unrest and monument challenges at the RE Lee cemetary. We saw folks protesting outside the Red Hen restaurant.
It was quite a year…

Don’t set your hopes too high…wearing a mask all day may only be the beginning of the problems with 2021.
I prefer a good year for a change, but better not to let worse come as a surprise if it comes.
