Neighbor’s mountain ash leaning over the fence. It looks much tastier than it is, sadly. Though I assume it can be used for jelly or something?
I think okra blossoms are beautiful… and love the pods.
My big beef tomato vines went up above that panel trellis about 3 feet… but now are starting to lean off the backside… still setting fruit. Each have 2 stems now 9 ft long and still going.
Deerberry started ripening this week… and the birds wiped them out. I had one bush with at least 100 berries… and only like 20 left now. I bagged a few to hopefully get to try a nice ripe one soon

That is the best white netting for anti-squirrels! Hard to find in the states, or it was.
@mrsg47 … I got those organza bags off amazon… a few years ago… I have some 4x6 inch… and some larger ones… like 8 x 12 that I use on clusters of grapes.
Works well to protect from birds… but I have found that the flash tape helps a lot too.
Not sure if that amazon link is the same ones I bought… but they do look close.
They also work well to protect blackberries from SWD. I harvested several yesterday.

Which blueberry variety is this? The plant looks nice and healthy
Which blueberry variety is this?
My favorite variety: BBEoSC (big box end of season clearance). Purchased 8-10 years ago, before I knew things like varieties.
ive made some jelly out of them. theyre ok but need alot of sugar. if i needed a vit. c source in a pinch they would work as well as the highbush cranberry. neither are to my liking. cant stand the smell of the h.cranberry when processed.
The netting I am thinking if is denser and not as fine as organza. The organza bags did not work for me. It is closer to what Galinas covers her trees in . I found it only once at Home Depot. Darn.
Finally I picked some tree ripen Harken Peaches. More sweeter then my Redhavens. Still have some left on the tree will pick as they ripen. Two three very small one just dropped when I was picking. I want to show smaller one too. ( From Peach # 2 Multi Grafted )
Top pic, clockwise from top: AU Cherry, Shiro, LaCrescent. I left my refracrometer at work. AU Cherry and LaCrescent were soft mushy ripe, fell off the tree with a touch. They both finally had some “plummy” flavor. Other samples of these two were somewhat bland. These were better, but not great. Shiros have been pretty good so far. I’ve been grafting a lot on the LaCrescent tree. Probably wouldn’t plant a whole LaCrescent tree if I was starting over.

I know I’m late, but I finally thinned my honeycrisp apple tree. It is a modest 9 foot tall, 9 year old tree. I’ve never needed to thin it before, so with age there is hope.
Not following my own advice I suspect I haven’t thinned enough. Any of you crutch builders able to help me with this branch? It’s close to the ground, so should be easy to supportWhat is the botanical name of deer berries?
Better Boy. Better Boy. ‘Small’ Beef.

I also grew ‘Supersonic’. The plant is beautiful. Lots of tomatoes. But not as tasty as Better Boy, for me - here in southeastern VA.
@Oepfeli …
Vaccinium stamineum, commonly known as deerberry, tall deerberry, squaw huckleberry, highbush huckleberry, buckberry, and southern gooseberry, is a species of flowering plant in the heath family. It is native to North America, including Ontario, the eastern and central United States, and parts of Mexico. Wikipedia
This is what it looks like in bloom…very pretty.
And a few weeks ago when it was loaded with berries…
When they start ripening here… it is impossible to get a ripe one without bird protection.

Thank you!
I guess those are from Australia…down under.
