A very chilly day in SoCal

We had a very unusual cold day for the month of July in SoCal today, high temps were only in the low 80s (High Desert area) and low Temps are in the 50s. It is very chilly right now; and I believe that my plants are loving it.

Enjoy your weather break. We are moving into a two month stretch of 70’s night and near 100 days with high humidity. This is when I would like to move out of the deep south until about September 15. Has any of your Nadia’s ripened yet? If they have what is your opinion about there taste? Thanks, Bill

It’s been cold and wet here. We’ve been lucky to hit 80. It’s hard to get good fruit production in the gardens. The trees like. I will know better by fall what the effects have been. It’s been a weird year. I like it though!

Grumble. Grumble. It’s 101.8 here right now. At least it’s only 34% humidity at the moment.

We did get a really good rain about a week ago, followed by a spell of cooler days in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. That rain and break in the temps seems to have encouraged some veggies and strawberries that had shut down to flower. Now I’ll have more beans and tomatoes than I would have.

Enjoy your cool temps while they last. They sure are nice to have now and then.

Wet and 70’s here which is highly unusual and very welcome to Kansas in July.

’A very chilly day in SoCal’

Can that be our new Forum slang for something unlikely happening? :sunglasses:

Here in S. NY state in between ample periods of rain the weather has been mostly close to perfect. The last wet spell held for 3 days with on and off rain which begins to worry a fruit grower but now it is in the low '80’s with nice breezes for second day in a row. By Tues. there is more rain in the forecast.

This is the third growing season in a row where our summer weather feels more like Sonoma CA (but with rain) than the stifling, hot and humid summers I expect. That is, hot and humid compared to my last home in north Malibu.

That’s a good one Brethil. It may replace that old saying:“The coldest Winter I ever spent was a Summer in San Francisco”. Brady

We are having very weird weather in California…so weird that Yosemite Park had a snowstorm in July.

It’s 3AM. I just pulled up the weatherunderground reading for my local station. It said 133.7 degrees and 10% humidity. I can’t sleep because it’s too warm and humid in here, but I KNOW it’s not 133.7 because it’s cooler outside than inside at this time. The other nearby stations are all reading around 78 with 85% humidity.

That’s what we typically get here in our summer heat this time of year. That humidity is hard to deal with. One way to get relief is to go shopping and soak up all the cool air in there or just buy an air conditioner for your bedroom window. When its above 80% and hot your swimming in your cloths and the house gets sticky. We have air in the office, bedroom and a pool. You can try sleeping with the fan blowing right on you too.

Same up here in Berkeley. It rained Wednesday and Thursday which is practically unheard of in July.
