Story is from 2015. They successfully germinated 2,000 year old seeds from an extinct ancient Judean date palm variety. Looks like they have a male and some females, although the females weren’t yet mature at the time of the article.

in the 2nd article there was a link to a article of a frozen squirrel stash of seeds in permafrost that was found in russia. they managed to grow a seed that was carbon dated to 32,000 yrs.! amazing!
