Adams County Nursery is selling them in 2017 and I was curious what it was all about. Can anybody share any info about it?
I just planted one this year that I got from Cummins. I had grown it previously until about 5 years ago when some deer ruined it. I remember it having very tasty apples, on the sweet side, red/pink coloration, bountiful crop, not especially disease prone.
I have florina querina, a very large French variety of red skin and good flavor,It is resistant to scab

Has anyone been able to try this apple yet and able to report on it as far as flavor and disease resistance goes? I tried one last year at Century Farm Orchards and it was really good, tasted slightly like bubblegum! I have one growing but it will be years until I see fruit (on M111).
Haven’t grown or tasted Florina, but im grafting one or two next year.
I have read that it has pretty good disease resistance, is cold hardy, and good for fresh eating. I have also read that fruit hangs well into early winter. That makes it a good choice for deer hunters.
I’ll be interested to hear reports from anyone who has a producing tree.
Hello!
My Florina on M26 was precocious and bore beautifully. It had a habit with long, somewhat drooping branches. I posted some photos of the fruit on the tree here: https://growingfruit.org/t/buds-flowers-and-fruits-2022-edition/43608/1045?u=oepfeli
We lost the tree in a freak windstorm in Fall 2023 and decided to not replace it, because most of our family members simply weren’t very fond of the taste. It is mainly sweet and perfumey, meanwhile we all like high-sugar, high-acid apples like Topaz, Rubinette or Boskoop.
But this was the only drawnack for us, the tree was great, but what use is that if nobody eats the fruit?
I have grafts growing in zone 4b Canada, USDA 3b. Actually picked last batch today, November 9 after we have had a couple frosts. Hangs VERY well. Last apples hanging in order of most dropping to least was Wickson (shriveling) 19.5-20;brix, Honey Gold (softening slightly but still amazing, tropical fruit flavour) 16 brix, Liberty (going mealy, mild boring flavour) 17 brix, Florina (firm and juicy but starting to soften) lots of PC strikes with apples quite misshapen and internal tracks - very sweet with fair balanced acidity and please apple floral flavour 14 brix, Goldrush (Firm, nearly russet like flesh. High acid. Mild flavour. Needs aging) 16.5 brix.
No sprays.
Florina gets a sooty blotch and a lot of PC strikes but is cold hardy, hangs well and is decently flavoured. Great option for northern climes.
