Anyone growing White Knockout apricot?

I’m very impressed with White Knockout apricot. Very sweet with a great acid kick that I don’t remember in many apricots. Not very big but big enough.

Am I late to this story? Doesn’t seem like I’ve heard much about it.

Was after it a couple years ago, but never ended up getting it. You have me interested again. I’m ditching a lot of my varieties because most of them are just sweet and boring.

I put one in ground this spring. Hopefully I’ll have fruit in a few years.

They had them at Costco recently, and I picked up a white knockout and an orange knockout, but I haven’t had them very long and they have no blossoms, they are still in pots.

I am pleased to hear a good review on one of them.

Are you picking firm ripe? I didn’t feel much acid last year when I picked them soft ripe. I agree it is an excellent apricot. Mine were on the big side, slightly smaller than Robada.

Being a Burchell release, it was not readily available or advertised as Dave Wilson or Rutgers varieties. Now I believe Bay Laurel is carrying it, so I hope it picks some steam.

I picked these fully ripe. I try to do that with all apricots because they tend to be astringent if not ripe. WK was much better than Orange Knockout. OK was twice as big.

Water level in my greenhouse is much higher than normal. So OK was only 15 brix. The one WK I measured was 23. The others tasted the same. A huge difference. And WK had much better flavor.

And both were on the same tree. OK was about a week earlier.

I planted one from Bay Laurel this year. So far it’s growing well.

So is this variety actually a white apricot type or is it just a lighter than orange knockout?

Also curious if anyone can provide info on whether this is a later blooming variety since we’re always trying to survive frosts here.
