Apricot in container

I would like to grow an apricot in a pot because I do not have in ground space.

  • What size container should I use?

  • Which apricot is tasty and will do well in a pot?

Apricots did not do well for me in pots at all, and they grow trouble free in the ground here. Your climate is different so who knows. Anyway, I would suggest using as large a container as you can fit in.

I tried growing apricots in pots but they were unhappy and died after two years. I think the varieties were Golden Amber and Velvaglo.

I used rather large containers, same size my potted Red Haven peach is in, but they were still miserable.

I hope you have better luck. Take the largest container you can handle.
