You will love them. Do not wait until it is too cold outside (40-50 degrees F) to take them indoors. The shock of constant heat from your home is something they must get used to gradually or else all of the fruit or flowers will drop. They will need as much sun as you can give them! Lemon pie!
Sorry, I meant to take a pic to show you but kept forgetting. I use this fertilizer from Espoma.
I use several types of Espoma fertilizer
Thank you! I’m going to try switching. I don’t think Down to Earth is cutting it. Do you fertilize weekly or monthly?
I like Espoma products, all of them from for tomatoes, roses to other things.
I think I feed my citrus monthly but I generally follow the label. I will try to cut down fertilizer during the winter months. We don’t have a green house or windows with a lot of sun.
I don’t think it is a good thing for this plant to flower now before cold weather hits.
i like organic fertilizers but they can get pricey so i use both organic and synthetic fertilizers. you are still feeding the soil life and also giving the amount of n.p.k they need without going bankrupt. has worked really well for me over the years. i usually give organics in spring and late fall with waterings of soluble fertilizer in between. i also keep a good dressing of mulch around them as well.
Steve,
I used plenty of non organic fertilizer as it is more cost effective. I just like Espoma products when I need fertilizer for specific purposes.
Big +1 for Espoma products. I swear by them. I use their Citrus Tone, Garden Tone, and their Soil Acidifier for my blueberries and cranberries. A little goes a long way. I don’t speak for other people’s circumstances of course, but I did not get the sticker shock I was expecting with Espoma. Totally worth it!
I have used several of Espoma products over the years. This was the first time I used Citrus Tone. So far, so good.
