@Olpea Mark,
Not April’s Fool but my potted Spring Snow peach is starting to bloom in the garage.

Not as abundant as last year but not scarce, either.

Forgot that I have a couple of potted peach and nectarine trees in my garage. I may be able to get a dozen of fruit from these two small trees. :joy:

Tippy, lovely showy flowers. It makes nice spring blossoms display in a house

Thanks, Annie, for an idea.

I took off twigs that were heading downward.

Unfortunately, I have no skills for an artful Japanese flower arrangement.

No need to rearrange it. The blossoms are beautiful enough already.

Tippy, how big the pot you are using for these peach/nectarine? I potted some peaches/nectarines last year. I am going to up pot the trees soon. I am thinking put them in 5 gallon pot but am also afraid that 5gl may be too small.

Annie,
I put them in 15 gallon pots. They are not big enough, though. They should be in a 20 or 25 gallon pots but we have difficulty lifting them and we have no room to store many pots bigger than 15 gallons.

I am with you. Moving the pot is a real limit and I am not looking forward to it. But the potted trees bloom early and the blossoms are focal points, draw attention.

They stay in my garage all winter. Once in a while, it can get below 30F in the garage.

However, temp in a garage is still warmer than outdoors. They wake up earlier and bloom sooner. This year, they will probably be the only peaches I will get!!!

Hi Tippy,

That’s of course an earlier bloom than outside Spring Snow here. We don’t have many Spring Snow flowers. The fruit buds of that variety got particularly iced hard during our -10F winter freeze.

Today is a perfect day to spray in zone 6a Massachusetts. Temp 40+ and no wind. Some buds are green.

My question is, can I mix dormant spray with copper or another (Bonide) fruit spray ?

Thanks!
Colleen

I have scales and other bug eggs that can be smothered by oil so I spray oil and copper annually. I sprayed two weeks ago.

If I were you, I would still spray oil and copper now.

Bonide has so many products so I don’t know what Bonide fruit spray is for.

Look what I got!!! Yesterday evening, I drove by this tree cutting crew. I turned my car around and got out to ask them what they would do with the mulch in the truck. The lead guy said he would dump it. I ask if I could have it, he was happy to give it to me.

He drove his truck to my house and dump a full truckload on my driveway. It’s oak mulch. Had I had more space, he would drop the second truckload for me.

I am very happy for free mulch.

You are lucky! The guy had a good grinder - the chips do not have much long sticks. My is much more “dirty”

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised that the mulch is quite nice.

Not sure how long it will take us to move the pile it to where it should be.

Tippy, take easy to spread the mulch. Ask your husband to help .don’t break your back

That’s also a lot of open grass with no fruit trees yet!

It helps them too, because sometimes they have to pay a disposal fee.
