Bark slipping

How long for root stock to slip bark going from modestly dry, not slipping to slipping after 5+" of rain? Temps in the 70-85.

My guess is one to two weeks. And the bark only really slips if the plant is actively growing, ie shoot extension. So if it’s growing now it shouldn’t take to long. If it’s already stopped growing then this time of yr it may not ever slip really well. Maybe good enough to T bud. If you’ve got to dig around to find slipping bark the graft success goes way down.

It should be slipping at this time of year, in my zone 7A/B I can t-bud approximately mid June till the end of September. Just try and if you have hard time, you can chip bud.
If you got your rootstock in a shade you can even graft regularly, I just spliced graft some apples and mullberries and they are already growing. The shade is a must otherwise it will be most likely a failure (my experience).
