I have been growing beetroot for a long time. This year I have no problem getting good strike along a 16’ row. However along the row there is significant variation in the development of the seedlings. Some seedlings prosper while others turn a reddish colour and fall to develop. All the seeds are fresh and come from the same packet, ph is appropriate, lots of humus in the soil and good drainage. So I am getting about 50/50 grow out to harvest. A lot of effort for half a crop.
Does anyone have an idea as to the cause?
