I tied a brick to a string to bend the branch on the left .Do you think I hurt the tree? There are several branches that are not bended. Do you think I should try to bend them also. I wanted to try to control the height of the tree. I appreciate your help. Thanks.
I grow wolf river and certainly see why bending branches was on your list of things to do because it heads right for the sky! Generally when you bend branches the ideal is a little bending goes a long way so I bend subtly instead of a lot at one time. Usually I don’t bend over 2-3 feet. My goal is to slowly get the trees branches headed out instead of up. You might bend a little slower but I think you have the right idea. Maybe bend half that amount to start with. You don’t want branches growing down but rather out or up.
Thanks. Looks like I overdid it. I really appreciate your advice. I will do this going forward. Thanks again.
I noticed that the leaves are at the end of the branches is that typical of this apple tree. Thanks.
Yes it sure is typical of a young wolf river in my experience. You can see the leaves are bunched up on the ends of these branches also. This is what the leaves look like if your looking for positive identification.
Thanks. the leaves on my tree look like the ones on your tree. This is very helpful. Thanks again.
