I know this was covered a long time ago but I am hoping some of you may have found better ways of protecting small trees or gooseberries from squirrels and chipmunks.
Will an electric fence work to deter squirrels and chipmunks?

Squirrels are STUPID period. The electric fence must be 2 feet tall minimum and outside the trees drip line. Might as well go 3 feet to exclude Coons and possums. Spaces of less than 2 inches for each wire. with alternating ground hot ground wires all the wat to the top. There can be nothing above the tree that a squirrel can drop from.

Encourage birds of prey to visit your property if possible, get a dog that enjoys chasing them, set up traps when able. Peanut butter on the electric fence. Good luck…
