Better asthetics?

Might plant a grouping of 3 sugar maples or red maples for shade and fall color effect.

Would you rather do three of the same cultivar for uniformity, or have the more “random” effect of three different cultivars with some variation in timing and shade of fall color?

I’d plant fruit trees.

I’d go with the different cultivars.

Can’t plant anything edible outside the fence. Deer obliterate it. These maples would be tall enough to avoid the deer.

I would do different cultivars but be mindful about height of each cultivar. A shorter one should not be blocked by a taller one from your preferred view.

There is a big difference in size between sugar maples and red maples. If planted 3 in a row they will not look good because of their size difference. I would do 3 of the same.

No, but if you can put 3 in a triangle …. of different kinds…you’ll like their looks I think.

Local nursery has Legacy, Bonfire, and Green Mountain sugar maples in good sized Balled and Burlapped.

I love maples but those helicopters are beyond annoying if near a home. My gutters used to be packed full of them before neighbors removed.

Just go with 3 sugar maples. Then you can tap them and have syrup for your french toast.

I’d expand the fence.
