Birds Damaging Pawpaws

@FloridaFrugivoreFami
Here’s what I was talking about on YouTube

They hit the the flowers too. Many half eaten flowers. But overall it’s a small percentage. But it increases my motivation to hand pollinate so I can end up with enough fruit.
They stop bothering them mostly once they get grape sized or so.

Oh man that really sucks! I guess trying to get as much fruit set as possible is ideal and then you can always thin them out later! Thanks for sharing! The 5 fruit set on my seedling i was telling you about fell off , so I won’t be getting any fruit this year! Unless I’m able to get some from @JustPeachy !!!

Aw snap I’m sorry your cluster dropped!
They do that sometimes. Mature trees will drop fruitlets as self-thinning in June too FYI (might be sooner in your zone). Not that this is what happened here

Thank you! They are only 4yr old seedlings! So I assume they just weren’t ready! Maybe its for the best so they can put more energy into growing. Hopefully next year I will get to try some ho homegrown pawpaw!

Yes exactly - just means it will focus on growing this year as much as that stinks for you
