When you seriously want to grow apple trees in deer country. 
5 foot tall concrete mesh fence with a 15 foot circumference. And yes the branch on the right side will be pruned off this winter and used for scion.

The concrete mesh is a good idea. I really need to invest in a fence around everything. I suppose it could always be worse, at least I don’t have bear knocking everything down.

Scary! For extra potency hang a piece of Irish Spring soap on that stick charm. I wouldn’t bet my life on it or anything, but over the years I’ve never had deer damage on a tree thus decorated. They really do despise the smell.
