Buds, Flowers and Fruits- 2025 edition

Forgot to post this pic of my Jostaberry flowers this morning (I think) maybe yesterday…

Well this is not the picture I thought I took, it looked much fuller this morning!

I am just keeping an eye out for mystery caterpillars that eat everything and have caused me to get nothing the past two years!

What variety is your semisweet cherry?

I have no clue. Its cherries are darker colored and sweeter than regular tart cherries. Only tag it had was for Mahaleb rootstock.

Went out for a 3 day vacation and returned to this! Carmine Jewel is working hard, it’s been barely 12 months in the ground for this little tree.

If I remember correctly they were a bright green that blended in with the leaves. You couldn’t even see them until right up close.

My other “Purple Possum” passionfruit is flowering now too. I hand-pollinated after seeing it, so hopefully it sets.

My Lapins cherry is loaded and they are sizing up.

It has 5 grafts of Montmorency on it and some of those are just now in full bloom and some have tiny cherries on.

Greengage from Burnt Ridge grafted onto Marianna appears to be self fertile. This is its third year in a pot and looks like I will get to try some fruit from it.

Two questions: Should I remove the tape from my graft (cut or try to unwind)? Should I remove the flower buds?

This is my first graft to take and I’m learning as I go. I’m leaning towards yes to both questions!
