Can I t-bud persimmon in the summer?

I've grafted 5-6 persimmons in this spring, cleft grafts of dormant 2 bud scions onto one year seedlings. All graft took and grew small branches out, although none have survived due to various mishaps.

I am thinking about trying to t-bud well developed bud under this year's mature leaves onto the seedlings, what will the success rate be? All my persimmon success was by cleft or whip-and-tongue, I have done quite some t-budding on mulberry and figs.

I am here to report that of the 7 t-buds and 1 bark graft current year growth persimmon scions 3 of them survived and are growing. It seems that summer budding can be done using current year dormant buds.

I think the lower taking rate is acceptable considering it only serve as a backup for spring grafting.
