My persimmon almost froze out this winter. I have a single stick left cut at around 20 inches. I see at least tree buds waking up above graft, around 10 inches from the ground, but nothing close to the top. I have two choices - let the one of three buds to develop a new leader and remove the rest of the grows, wait until new leader branches out. That may again leave me with single stem and underdeveloped branches for next winter.
Second choice would be just let it grow and let it form a bush.
Any suggestions?
