Catkins on 2 year old pecans?

I went to check on my pecan trees this morning, and they’re both producing male catkins. They’re only 2 years old, is this normal? I thought pecans took a decade or more to reach maturity.

A few catkins early on is normal. You might even get a couple nuts but probably another yr or two for that. By 10 yrs with good growing conditions you should have a real crop.
