Just dug the chestnuts I buried in early winter. Most of them sprouted. They are the Asian varieties.
I also planted some large Asian varieties shipped from China. The germination rate is lower. So I think freshness is very important. But at least I get some sprouted. They are purchased from supermarket.
In early winter, I put some chestnuts in 5 gallon pots and covered with covers from paint bucket. Then buried them in garden.
Also buried some hazelnuts. I do not see sprouts yet. Maybe need to wait longer.
