Anyone have an opinion of which is better, Jenny or Yixian Large?
Ask me in a couple years…I have both grafted now, but they are small yet.
Supposedly both are “very good” with large nuts that ripen early season.
I grew some “peach” chestnuts out of nuts and have some little seedlings, but my father-in-law wants a tree planted and wanted to try the nuts so I ordered him a bag of culinary nuts from route 9 so that he could try them in his Thanksgiving stuffing and then I set up a tree order for May, when my husband would be visiting them and could plant trees for them. I picked Yixian large and wondered if I should’ve asked for Jenny or maybe some of both instead.
They are seedlings, not grafted.
I’m sure they’ll be fine trees either way. Since seedlings, it probably matters more the quality of the nearby pollenizer trees to those two mother trees.
