I see a few flower clusters on my small graft, too.
Please keep us posted on how they do!
Nice looking cluster. I donāt have any rootstock left to graft, this pear sounds very interesting, like to grow it.
I will tell you more as i know more itās long overdue its flowered for years.
Lovely pink/red blooms.
Clark, I think you qualify for Pearmaster Extraordinaire.Just donāt take this title lightly. Amazing.
Citron de carmes has hundreds of blooms on this year. Looking forward to a big crop. Many years of blooms and fruits and things always happened.
How often am I going to need to feed pears before or after they are producing 50-pear or whatever could be considered ābearing ageā?
My trees are growing fast and have some (not enough to notice) scab - but other than that are fine. Iām watching too much vigor happen on OHxF 87 to a few Asian pears. Iām wondering when fireblight is going - to invite itself in & onto those trees - too.
Well - Iāll see ya.
Hardly do anything to these I donāt even fertilize them generally. Pears produce typically within 7 years. Some produce in half that time. Maybe your fertilizing them to much.
I havenāt ever fertilized. Iāll know when the trees have suppressed their growth, if 15-20 years from now, even. Best Regards
Japanese beetles devoured these pears. This is very unusual Iāve never seen this before.
Oh no! Did they target that variety over any others?
Yes over all other varities.
Yes over all other varities.
Interesting. They must know a good thing. Iāve noticed that some pests seem to target the more healthy trees (greener leavers or whatever), while some pests seem excited to finish off something thatās already hurting!
