Are you using tape or paint to differentiate your grafted branches? I cant quite tell.

Dave Wilson Tree marks their grafts that way. I wish I had their code. I have no idea which graft is what.

If anyone is looking for an espalier fruit tree, this company (River Road Farm) is making east coast deliveries soon. They are in Massachusetts soon.
I don’t know if I am ready to give up on my Apple yet.

Collen – I’m a little farther south than you, Z6B RI. I’m just noticing this thread.

If you’re interested I can describe my experiences with apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, cherries. Also figs. It’s easier to describe the failures. In a nutshell, I’ve given up trying to grow apricots, which routinely die in ~3 years of a systemic infection that produces gumosis. Ditto cherries and Asian plums, which routinely die of black knot. I’d be interested to see how your trees fare.

On the other hand, I’ve had good success so far with apples, pears, peaches, and a mulberry. I pick the apple and pear varieties looking for a resistance to scab and fireblight.

I am thinking about grafting something new to my apple espalier because it is struggling. This winter, can someone teach me how to do it?!?

I watch alot of YouTube creators like https://youtu.be/wo8QrTxU2gs
And
https://youtu.be/WrayO1ePKAs

There are also reference pages on this forum but for grafting a video explains it better

Thanks! The videos are very helpful.

I am so proud of myself for putting this together. Before it gets really cold. I am trying to read up on exactly how to use it. I put lettuce seeds down. I want to grow some starter seedlings inside and put them in there too. I like the added bonus that it may keep critters away. I also think I might get a head start on my tomatoes in April-May. That’s all.
