Collette Pear Pruning Question

The photo shows that an upwardly growing branch has begun growing out of one of the branches.

I don’t think that will be safe.

Should I remove it immediately, or leave it, so the tree has more foliage to produce more sugar for itself, then prune it next year?

Thanks!

My opinion is since it is not resistant to fireblight it is risky to try to prune in the non dormant season.

I’ve had to take to protecting the pear tree during the hottest times of the day.

I put my ladder over it, and hung frost cloth, so it could have some shade.

It burns during the day. It’s not made for living up here. LOL The apples need water, but they don’t burn like that.
