Costco Juliet do not leaf out

I bought a Juliet cherry bush end of April from Costco. I transplanted it the same day I bought it. Now it’s the end of June now and the bush never leafed out… The branches looks flexible but the buds never swoll. I am in zone 5b. Does anyone else have the same problem with Juliet cherry bush from Costco?

Can you give more info?
Was this a potted plant full of leaves when you bought it or a bare root tree?

Did it rain a lot where you are in the spring? Is yhe planting site often wet?

It can be a transfer shock, a tree die , etc. more info and a pic would help.

Costco used to have a one year guarantee if a tree dies. Not sure if that has changed or not.

Hi Mamuang, thank you for reply.
It still looks the same as when I bought it, no leaves, no buds swollen. All the Juliet cherry pots in Costco that day look the same, so I just thought it should look like that. But nothing changed in two months. Yes it did rain a lot this spring and it is pretty wet. I will take a pic when I get a chance.

You can do a scratch test on the bark of the tree. If it’s green underneath, it’s still alive. If it’s brown, it’s dead. May be scratch at two different section of the tree, top and bottom.

I bought a few trees from Costco, usually around mid April. They were bare root trees that were covered with moist saw dust. I soaked them in water for an hour or two and planted them them in ground. They leafed out fine within a few weeks.

Your is over 6 weeks now. I can understand why it’s worrisome.

Cherry trees do not like their feet wet. Hopefully, your tree is just slow to wake up.
