Crandall currant crack?

Hello everyone,

This is my first year growing crandall currants. They are pretty tasty but about 1/3 of them either are split (as if they are popped open) prior to picking them or when I actually pick them, they split as I’m pulling away the fruit. Any idea what may be the cause? When they were transplanted into the ground they had already began producing some green berries so may be the shock is part of cause?

Thanks!

I was considering this as an option too just because I’ve read about it happening in tomatoes but I’ve never read it occurring in currants. Crandall is suppose to be drought tolerant so maybe that tolerances comes with drawbacks. Thank you!
