Does anyone have some good ideas for dealing with Crepe Myrtle Bark Scale? We have several crepe myrtles that were very badly affected last year. We had them treated by an arborist and that had no noticeable effect. Many of the Extension Services recommend imidacloprid soil drenches (such as Mississippi State), but that’s a non-trivial problem here in Maryland. To tie this back to fruit, apparently in Asia, these things can infest apple trees as well, although I haven’t seen any sources that have observed this in the US. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
I’m in Fairfax county and actually cut one of mine and then timed the oil sprays for the other when they were mobile
It was bad last year
