Damaged Pomongrante Tree Bark

I was trimming back my pomongrante tree and found that the bark is damaged :frowning_face:

Any ideas how to best save or heal this tree?

A few of my figs have similar spots where a cottontail got to them. Looks like it’s doing its own healing already. I’d just let it be.

Does not look like anything to worry about.

Thanks! I am going to put a root guard around it so the cottontail does not come back to disturb the tree. The cottontails are the cutest critters so I tend not to exclude them from the property. Having second thoughts now. Thanks!
