Dicamba use - can i spray then cardboard cover?

I want to knock back some creeping charlie but i dont want the chickens in it for a few days. Can i spray and then cardboard it over or do i have to fence it in? Wondering if it needs sun to fully metabolize the dicamba

I’ve never tried covering plants after spraying a herbicide. But I have noticed that contact herbicides still work under lower light conditions. It simply takes longer (probably because lower light = cooler temps in most cases).

I’m pretty sure your dicamba will still do it’s job if the weeds are covered. Dicamba also has root activity, which helps destroy problem weeds. According to what I’ve read, it takes several applications of dicamba to completely eradicate creeping charlie.

I’m sure you’re aware dicamba is toxic to fruit trees.

Yes i am always very careful with application. Ive knocked it back hugely but i have been saving a late spray figuring with the cool nights fluids are heading back into the roots.
