Dimpled Asian pears

This year about half of our bronze skinned Asian pears (Korean Giant, Shinko, Hosui) are covered with large dimples, so the whloe pear is bumpy. Under the dimples the flesh is hard and white. A few Shinseiki ate also afflicted. The pears are unsellable. What causes this and what can be done about it?

Most likely stink bug. It happens to both pears and apples for me.

I do see stink bugs on the pears. But I see no penetration of the skin, no little sting mark.

I had the same problem and asked a guy at NAFEX. Stink bugs is what he said. Pyrethrin is OMRI approved.

I am trying to get ahead of the stink bug problem in my Asian pears. I will spray with organic and insecticidal soap. When and how often do I need to spray? Evenings best? Weekly?

Pyganic dammit. (Keeps changing it to organic)

yup, marmorated stink bugs are the culprit
