Do voles eat raspberry roots?

My raspberry plants looked great at the start of the summer and then started just sucking wind…no new growth, leaves looked poor, etc.

Some of the canes just wiggled in the ground and pulled right up…there was a tunnel leading right up to the plant. IS THAT A VOLE ?

I didn’t notice any entry holes anywhere. There are chipmunks around the house. The area where I have these is about 100’ from the house out in a field of about two acres.

thanks.

Yes they do, but raspberries also resprout from root cuttings so you should have a bunch of tiny raspberry plants in the spring

They certainly eat blueberry roots. My bushes were hardly growing for years, and even dying off. Finally uncovered a shallow vole nest.
Put out a bait station with zinc phosphide. Within a month all bushes took off like never before.

I second the bait station idea and they have worked tremendously for us

While the hole next the plant makes it likely for voles, those symptoms also happen with Phythophtora root rot

Yes.
