This is my Dawn redwood (Metasequoia) tree. It is four seasons old from seed, about 3” caliper and 12’ tall or so.
It seems to have a rather scraggly, irregular form for a dawn redwood. Am I wrong? Do you think it will grow out of it, or will this be one of those occasional odd specimens that will always have a weird shape?
My dad in Ohio has two that are one year older, and they‘ve always had a naturally pyramidal shape with good structure, unlike mine.
