Anyone know of a drought tolerant carrot variety, ideally open-pollinated?
Danvers 126 is what I would recommend. But expect a stronger carrot flavor, less sweetness and it might be “hairier” than normal.
I’ve shut off the water (and we get rare rainfall) and Baker Creek’s "Pusa Asita’ has survived. But I wouldn’t eat it at that stage. Under better conditions it tends to fork and is very hairy, but you can’t beat that purple color. It’s been my best purple carrot so far.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll add that to my list to try next year.
