Effects of pruning cuts on leafed out branches

I dropped the ball on pruning a pluot tree. It is out of balance and my desire to get fruit I skipped the dormant pruning cuts that I really should’ve made to help balance the tree. I can balance it now by making those cuts but I’m curious how the tree will react? Since it’s leafed out will it react like a mid summer thinning cut by not creating a flush of new growth? Or since it’s so early in the season can I expect new growth shoots to establish near the cuts?

It should be somewhere in between. I’d expect new shoots to push this time of yr. And depending on growing conditions, how much is cut off, and vigor of the tree there can be new growth even in mid summer.
