I will be trialing the 3M Tegaderm to seal my pluots and plums this Spring. Once the fruitlets are about the size of a rice grain then I will seal them with this stretchable Tegaderm so as the Fruits are getting bigger the Tegaderms will expand with them. Tegaderms are light weight so they won’t pull the Fruits off the branches. Wish me luck.

It might be not UV stable as many other plastics do. Nevertheless it will be interesting to try. Good luck.

Tony,
How expensive is this material? Hope you don’t end up with $50 a peach, don’t you?

Oh my. Tegaderm isn’t cheap. Were you able to get some at a good price? It will be interesting to see how this works, but not so sure this would be a viable option on a larger scale? Unless you were able to purchase this really inexpensively.
Okay, that’s really cheap, Tony, you did well. Will be very interesting to see if this works!

I hope to try wrapping some peaches in bread bags and some in Clemson bags IF I have any peaches surviving this crazy fluctuating weather.

Maria,
The Tegaderms will degrad in 2 months and by that time the fruits should be safe from OFM and PC.

Tony,
I don’t know about how active OFM are in your area. In mine, I’ve seen flagging shoot from May - late Sept, every year. They have 4-5 generations. PC is about 2 generations.
PCs is more of a problem for me here in Omaha than OFM. I used Tegaderm to wrap the graft union on all my grafts. It worked real well and usually they stayed on until the following year.
