First Crop of Nanking Cherries

Let’s enjoy our first crop of Nanking Cherries. Although they’re supposed to be tart, these ones have some sweetness that makes it delicious eaten fresh off the tree! This particular seedling has above average size for Nankings. I will save a lot of seeds. Nanking seedlings are long term graft compatible with plums (Japanese, American, European, Russian, Mexican), pluots, apricots, pluerries, peaches and other interspecific crosses. It isn’t directly compatible with real cherries though but you can always use an interstem like Adara. They make dwarf trees when used as rootstocks. Their fruits make them a keeper for me on their own!

Remind me early next year if you want cuttings. I can share Some seeds too!
