Our 5 starfruit trees set fruit in late fall and slowly mature them over the winter. This one was a little under ripe but I couldnt resist plucking it and serving it up.
Oh Yum that looks so good and crunchy! A new tractor and star fruit! Wow!
in the tropics, this fruit may be used as anti-motion sickness/nausea natural remedy, especially on long trips over high seas
the zesty aftertaste does have a refreshing effect
The Starfruit we got here remind me of an orange in terms of flavor. Do yours taste similar? They are very delicious.
Amazing, I wouldn’t think Carambola can be grown in Phoenix area. I know it only from grocery stores but don’t find it particularly tasty (of course the taste might be different with fruit from your own garden).
Yes somewhat citrus-y with a whole lot of other interesting flavors thrown in. Flavor really depends of degree of ripeness. All the starfruit ive ever gotten at resorts or grocery stores was picked really really green. A tree ripened fruit is a whole different taste. And there is also alot of difference between cultivars too. We have 4 I think. They are all good but Fwang tung tends to be our favorite.
It grows quite well here if protected from freezes. We enclose ours in a greenhouse structure during the winter but the get the full Arizona sun and heat all summer. They pick starfruit far too green to ship to groceries and they dont really ripen off the tree. They are a excellent fruit when allowed to ripen properly.
Excellent amadioranch that taste? it’s good?
