Found a wineberry

I found a wineberry growing under a maple tree in almost full shade, with some fruit on it.

I know they’re invasive, but I like the fruit.

  1. Is this one worth keeping?
  2. Would there be any value in propagating it and actually growing it alongside my other berries?
  3. Can it hybridize with black or red raspberries or blackberries?

Get rid of it before it takes hold. They are super invasive. I can’t get rid of them and they are everywhere.

If honeyberries start coming up ‘everywhere’…you reckon they’ll get banned.

Blueberries haven’t! (Of course they’re not very invasive most places…except bogs of Michigan or Maine or something).
