My young cherry tree has had crippling shothole (I think), and my big pear gets a lot of black spot, and it’s just dawning on me that maybe… I shouldn’t have put my fountain so near the fruit trees? It doesn’t spray directly on them but when the wind blows a fine mist goes all over. Does anyone have any experience with trying to maintain a fountain in a small yard with fruit trees? Do I have to nix it?
I have three fountains in my home orchard.
How far away from the trees? And do they create mist, or are they the kind that just bubble up a bit, like in a birdbath fountain?
My cherry is about eight feet from the fountain, but my big pear tree has branches that reach right over it.
The fountain is about 8 feet tall and sprays a lot of water. I made it myself out of pipe but I could disassemble it. Sigh.
5 feet.
Yes.
Thanks Richard.

Do you put chemicals in the water of your fountain?
I wash them out every 1-2 months, using a kitchen sink type scrub brush to remove algae. After refilling it I add a pinch of copper hydroxide.
