Frozen out Peaches Again

My peaches seem to have survived a 24 degree low, but the apricot & plum that were farther along had some fair losses. I tarp’d all 4 trees, and I’d swear I lost the apricot blooms that were under the tarp more than the branch that was outside it. I find it hard to believe but maybe it got too hot on the day inbetween the 29 degree low and the 24.

Here’s to hoping the copper controlled the shothole that just wrecked my peaches last 3 years running.

Over time you will have opportunities to watch who tends the blossoms enough to know how much a factor this activity is at your site. My apricot trees have been partially open for a few days and Saturday was the first time I saw activity- a couple carpenters and some small native bees were probably doing all that is necessary… now I have to hope they and my early flowering J. plums survive a short 25F spell of frost early Weds morning. Hope it doesn’t get below 25- that is close to the cutoff point. The cots usually give me crop because the branches are trained next to the south wall of my house.

I was just noticing yesterday the weather was nice. I have a couple of pear trees and an apple tree there’s still blooming. However, the blueberries are blooming. The pollinators are going crazy over the blueberries not much action on the trees . I think the weather and the other flowering plants have a lot of influence on the amount of pollination that could occur on a single tree

Here everything gets severed once the buzzers are out.

Is it possible to force flowers after a failed crop? Asking out of curiosity.

yes and no,
Potassium nitrate is used to induce flowering in mango. But with temperate fruits flowering is based on bud formation thats depenand on diffrent cycles.
