Only cherry in this Nimba tree. I’m having problems getting an alleged Red Pacific to synchronize in bloom time, I’m suspecting one (or both) of the trees came mislabeled from the nersery, but if Nimba is the correct ID, it does seem to work fine in my low chill area in Cádiz, but unfortunately it’s not self fertile.
For supposedly having red fruit it looks very orange, which still makes sense considering one of its parents is a yellow goji. It had notably more bitterness than the yellow, but would probably say it still has less than my crimson star (but flavor and color could both be skewed by the plant being under a grow light in the basement).
I saved the seeds from a self pollination, because it aught to have the genetic capacity in the self pollination to be able to yield variations in the color from yellow to red and be able to yield the low bitterness of the yellow for a portion of each color too.
Catawba grape (supposedly) first flowers. 3rd year old plant, it never gets very big and I definitely haven’t pruned it right. But looks healthy, which is saying alot for a non-muscadine.
Elderberries in bloom. My 5/6 I have planted in a row are all blooming. They were root suckers I collected 2 falls ago and planted out last March. From 6 inches to 8 feet+ in that time.
Now comes the hard part. Pruning away about half the clusters on my one older 3rd year Errante Noir grape. It has almost 40 clusters, almost all on double cluster shoots. I’ll likely remove almost all the second clusters, keeping a few for curiosity to see if they fully develop and get good brix.
Then… I noticed the one thornless blackberry I got from @krismoriah with a pink flower! Oooohhh. That’s the only way I like pink besided ona sunset… or a little in my steak!
My Carolina allspice bushes are finally flowering and starting to open and they DO smell wonderful very fruity, sweet aroma they opened more as the day went on, but no picture
One more pic, I think aronia flowers are so beautiful. Dainty and delicate little bunches. I think this picture is from a Viking. My low scapes flowered slightly earlier and will have a bunch of fruit this year, Vikings and newer Northwest parks have a good amount of flowers, which is exciting
The grapes are graping. These are 4 different clusters. On my 1 3rd year and 6 2nd year vines I’ve pruned down to 67 clusters. I’ll have plenty of juice to make some wine this year. Next year will be wild.
Amaryllis have become my Springtime favorite. The voles won’t eat them. The deer are not interested. They put on an insane curbside show. Amaryllis prefer southern exposure behind retaining walls. They do not like wet freeze/thaw soil in the Winter. They are fairly cold hardy. I only lost one bulb this out of a couple hundred this past Winter and it wasn’t in an ideal location.
Bing (the branch is getting cut off after it flowers lol, i just grafted over other growth and i wanted to maybe get some cherries this year off the other tree.
