Geneva 890

Does anyone know how much more resistant to aphids G890 is compared to 30? I am looking for a more bullet proof rootstock for my mother in laws front yard in NC, so resistances are key. It’s a sandy loam yard. G890 looked intriguing from the description, she wants a vigorous crabapple, while I am terrified she’s going to either break her neck maintaining it or make me do it. Her current apple has been almost girdled by something, as a feathered whip, so I figured starting it over with a very good rootstock for our area was worth it.

Does anyone know who sells 890 anyway?

Cummins had a bit of 890 for sale in early fall, but it was snapped up almost instantly.

If you’re going up to 890 anyway, why not consider 111? It’s good against aphids. Plus a pretty good rootstock for almost anywhere.
