Getting ready to plant 2 new mulberry trees in NC

I have a small farm in Durham, NC, zone 7. Have a very large Illinois Everbearing, which is my favorite fruit tree. But Michael at Edible Landscaping nursery in VA tells me that it is now susceptible to popcorn disease. I have seen a handful of popcorn-ed fruit in the past two years on our beloved tree.

So last year I planted Silk Hope and Shangri La.

I have room for at least two more large mulberry trees. In the interested of diversity, I’d like to plant something different. But if Silk Hope is going to be the best (for eating and production), maybe I should just plant two more of those.

Any recommendations for other varieties to consider, or should I just stick with Silk Hope?

Many thanks, – Larry
